Want to jump higher? PRO jump insights will get you there with to the point analysis of every session and tips to get you higher!
Achieving impressive jump heights involves mastering several critical elements. Surfr's PRO Jump Insights breaks down these components to guide your improvement:
Approach Speed: The speed you have when going into the jump. In general the more speed (till a certain limit) you have, the higher jump potential you have
The Heading: This is the direction that you are taking relative to the wind. You are probably already familiar with the terms going upwind and going downwind. We learned that the ideal heading for a high jump is perpendicular to the wind (so not upwind, and not downwind, but exactly perpendicular).
Edging: Edging involves the angle your board makes against the water surface. A 0-degree angle indicates a flat board, while 90 degrees is the maximum tilt. Data analysis suggests that an angle of approximately 60 degrees is optimal for high jumps.
Pop Technique: The 'pop' is the explosive movement off the water's surface. Effective popping requires maintaining edge control during takeoff and executing a swift, controlled motion to maximize lift.
