We’re currently seeing a Garmin issue on the Fenix 8 Pro where GPS does not work for any Connect IQ app, including Surfr.
GPS does work in Garmin’s built-in apps, but not in third-party apps like Strava or Surfr. Please note that this is not caused by Surfr and unfortunately something we can’t fix on our side.
Because GPS data isn’t coming through, you may notice:
No map view
No distance or speed
No spot detection
No GPS data in your session
What can you do?
We recommend contacting Garmin Support directly and reporting the issue. The more users report it, the higher the priority on Garmin’s side. You can mention that:
GPS works in Garmin’s native apps
GPS does not work in any Connect IQ app
No GPS data is written into FIT files
