Speed and distance data is collected using your device’s GPS tracker. Did you know that the accuracy and availability of GPS can vary depending on your location and even the weather!? Factors like cloud cover can interfere with and impact GPS performance.
If your sessions are consistently missing speed or distance data, check out the following tips to troubleshoot:
What to check to avoid GPS issues?
Battery Saving Mode: Make sure battery saving mode is disabled while recording your session, especially on Android devices.
Location Permissions: Double-check that the Surfr app has permission to access your location at all times.
Recalibration: Recalibrate your device by navigating to the app settings, selecting Calibrate Again, and following the on-screen prompts.
App Version: Ensure you're using the latest version of the Surfr app and update it if necessary.
Restart device: Sometimes simply restarting your device can do the trick.
Sensors: Ensure that the GPS sensor of your device is working properly. The functionality can be checked using apps like Compass or Sensor Logger.
