In-app updates vs. App Store updates

You may have noticed that Surfr is improving at a faster pace. That’s because we now release updates in two different ways. Here’s a simple breakdown of what that means for you.

⚡ In-app updates

These are the small, frequent improvements that arrive directly inside the app, no trip to the App Store needed. We deliver these quick updates every one to two weeks, so bug fixes and small tweaks reach you fast.

When an in-app update is available, you’ll see an New version ready button at the top of the feed. Simply tap it and Surfr will restart and update right away.

You can also check for updates anytime by going to Profile → Settings and scrolling to the bottom. If an update is available, you’ll see it there.

📱 App Store updates

For the bigger stuff, we still publish app releases through the App Store. These are the updates that can include things like algorithm updates and big new features, anything substantial enough that it needs a full release.

You’ll get these the same way as any other app update on your phone, either automatically or by tapping Update on the Surfr app in the App Store.

So in short...

Little things, often, straight in the app.

Big things, less often, through the store.

That way we can keep improving Surfr without making you wait, while still doing big releases when it really matters.
