We are happy to hear that you're all excited to start and try the Surfr.App! It's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3. Let's get you started in just a few steps.
📱 On your phone
Step 1 ) Download the Surfr.app
Download the Surfr.App to your phone and sign up. Make sure to follow the on screen prompts to calibrate your phone before you go to the beach.
Step 2 ) Get a waterproof pouch
Many pouches to find! If you want to be sure about the quality, you can order a waterproof pouch with us!
Step 3 ) Record your first session
Go to the Record screen, select (or add) your kite and press Start!
⌚️ On your Apple Watch
Step 1 ) Download the Surfr.app and get PRO
Download the Surfr.App to your iPhone and sign up. Tracking your session from an Apple Watch is a PRO feature. Once in the app, press the ‘Get PRO’ button and subscribe to either the monthly or the annual subscription.
Step 2 ) Install to the watch
This normally happens automatically but you should check on your phone if the Surfr app is properly installed to the watch.
Open the Watch app on your iPhone and validate if the Surfr App is installed on your watch. If not click to install it.
Step 3 ) Some final settings, and GO!
Now you are ready to open the app on the watch. It will ask you for some permissions the first time, which need to be granted for the app to operate properly. If all goes well, you will reach the Start button and you’re only one click away from your first session with the Apple Watch!
Step 4 ) Don't lose the watch
Very important: The standard wrist bands are most of the times not sufficient for kiteboarding. It will be a matter of time before the watch slips off. Please secure the wrist band with and extra rope or buy a kite boarding proof wrist band in the Surfr Webshop.
⌚️ On your Android Watch
Step 1 ) Download the Surfr.app
Download the Surfr.App to your phone and sign up.
Step 2 ) Pair your watch
Open the Play Store on the watch and search for Surfr and install the Surfr. app on your Wear OS device.
Now open the Surfr app on your phone and from the Session page go ⚙️ Settings (top right corner). Select Pair Wear OS. This will give you a 6-digit code. Now open the Surfr. App on your Android Wear Watch and follow the initial steps. When asked provide the 6-digit code.
Step 3) Some final settings, and GO!
Have a look at the settings within the Surfr. App on the Watch to see if you want to change anything. A few settings that should be considered:
Always on. This will use a bit more battery but will enhance your experience on the water because the screen will stay always on
Auto waterlock. Enable this on watches like the Pixel watch. This will make sure that the Watch will not respond to water while kiting, and keep the Surfr. app in the foreground. On the Galaxy Watch you can use the Samsung waterlock, available via the swipe-down menu. This setting is not available for Galaxy Watch.
⌚️ On your Garmin Watch
Step 1 ) Download the App
On your phone go to the Garmin Connect app, visit the Connect IQ store and search for The Surfr. app. Once you find it download and install it to your watch.
Step 2 ) Pair Garmin and Surfr
Open the Surfr app on your phone (if you don’t have the Surfr. app on your phone yet, download it first.
Once in the Surfr app, from the Session page, go to ⚙️ Settings (top right corner). Select Connect Garmin account and follow the steps.
Once this has completed your Garmin Activities (including all the sensor data) will be send to Surfr. You will receive an e-mail and a push message as soon as your session is available to be viewed.
Step 3) Some final settings, and GO!
When you open The Surfr. app on your Garmin for the first time. We will take you to an onboarding flow to check compatibility.
On top of that, via the settings, you can calibrate the watch. This is optional, but we highly recommend you to do this to increase accuracy. Once calibrated, this will remain active.
From your settings, you'll also have the option to use the Imperial system (miles, feet) instead of the default metric system.
